I och med detta album kom Jacksons berömda Moonwalk-dans som han introducerade 1983 för allmänheten på Motown 25 Anniversary-galan till Billie Jean. Uppträdandet spelades in och visades några månader senare på TV och hade då omkring 47 miljoner tittare. Företrädare för Motown Records menar att Michael Jackson nådde en ny slags publik den här kvällen. Hans bror Jermaine har dessutom sagt att dansen under framträdandet var helt improviserad.^[7]
